Creating impact from research - Research Making Impact 2021!

November marked the conclusion of the third successful delivery of Research Making Impact (RMI) for 2020. RMI is a professional development program designed to support academics in developing confidence and capability to define the potential pathways to social, economic, cultural, and environmental impact from their research.

The 2020 RMI program, a collaboration between UNSW Founders and Knowledge Exchange supported 50 researchers, including Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and senior academics. Researchers from UNSW Canberra, Humanities, Arts and Social Science, Built Environment, Business School, Science, Medicine, Engineering, The George and Futures Institute were supported by mentors and Impact Champions to build basic capabilities in critical interpersonal and technical skills required for communicating with impact and maximising the successful engagement of external partners, collaborators and funding bodies.

“I would like to thank all who have created such an interactive workshop. The program helped me a lot to identify my key skills and selling points. In addition, the resources are also very helpful to shape my career plan for making an impact on society both economically and environmentally.” - UNSW researcher and RMI participant

RMI will return in 2021. If you are a UNSW academic curious about creating impact from your research through working with external partners and/or commercialisation with little to no experience in this area register your interest to join a 2021 program.
