Business News Australia has profiled 10x alum Yellowbox. Yellowbox co-founders Ben Delaney, Vanessa Zhao, Ho Jun Tang, and Adrian Brossard met at UNSW where they entered the Peter Farrell Cup, coming second and securing $5,000 to build the product before ultimately being accepted into the 10x accelerator. They were recently nominated for the 2023 Sydney Young Entrepreneur Awards. Read the article here.
Both Innovation Aus and Startup Daily highlighted UNSW's speed in launching of the federal government's accredited Startup Year program. UNSW, leading the charge, is the inaugural tertiary institution to embrace the initiative designed to empower recent graduates in kickstarting their entrepreneurial ventures, with the aid of HECS-style loans. Covered by Joseph Brookes, a Senior Reporter at Innovation Aus, and Simon Thomsen from Startup Daily, the articles shed light on the government's Startup-HELP loan, valued at $12,720, facilitating participation in university-based incubators or accelerators. Despite a gradual rollout, UNSW, participating in the initial trial, hopes to open up to 100 spots in our pilot program from May 2024. Delivered in collaboration with AGSM, the program covers an array of crucial topics and underscores accessibility through scholarships and government loans. Additionally, UNSW is hosting a Startup Year Bootcamps, offering a two-day immersive experience to equip interested graduates for the upcoming year-long program. As the university strives to eliminate financial barriers, it reflects a commitment to fostering entrepreneurship through philanthropically-funded scholarships.
