Portfolio Spotlight: How climate tech startup NetNada helps businesses cut costs and save the environment through automation
Zip. Zilch. Zero. Nada…well, NetNada, actually. That is the goal of co-founders and directors Afonso Firmo and Lochie Burke, with their climate tech startup NetNada taking on the challenge of making sustainability accessible for businesses of any size.
Founded in 2021, Afonso and Lochie discovered a shared passion for democratising sustainability. Both involved in the startup and sustainability space prior to NetNada, it was a natural progression for the (eventual) Co-Founders and Directors to join forces to create a startup that can help businesses become more sustainable and save money doing so.
In 2022, NetNada joined the 10X Accelerator Program to upskill and upscale their venture, and since then have continued their trajectory of success in the climate tech space.
“We help by making sustainability a strength in businesses. How do we achieve that? NetNada is a software that automates the process of measuring, improving, and communicating climate impact,” Afonso explains.
“We go in with software and we’ll leave no stone unturned when it comes to sustainability and provide them with a pathway moving forward that actually delivers action for them to implement.”
NetNada captures it all using software and automation to analyse everything from a business’s suppliers to the amenities they use, from the daily consumption of water, gas, and electricity, to the fleets of cars and the flights that are taken. From there, NetNada distills actionable items for a business to quickly, and effectively, reduce their emissions – and overall, cut down on costs. A win-win for the businesses they serve, and the environment.
Starting the trend, Lochie, as a founder of a previous startup, participated in the 10X Program in its early days, when it was just a single cohort. Now, the program has diversified into 5 different streams, including a dedicated Climate 10X stream focussing on deep tech startups dedicated to solving climate challenges.
With the new Climate10X stream launching on August 2, Lochie and Afonso are keen to help the next generation of entrepreneurs in the climate space while they continue to grow their own venture.
“We now know that Founders is creating a [Climate] stream which is really exciting and hopefully we’re able to provide some guidance and mentorship to some of those companies, Lochie says.
