Docterio - bridging the gap between affordable healthcare and underserved populations.

Adequate access to healthcare is an enormous burden globally, and in Bangladesh this problem impacts 75% of its population. A lack of digital health infrastructure, combined with an overwhelmed health system, mean that more than 100 million people in Bangladesh do not have direct access to care.

Telehealth has the potential to bring quality, affordable healthcare to the most remote and under-served of populations, and UNSW Founder's Health 10X startup, Docterio, is bridging this gap.

Two of the three Docterio co-founders began their entrepreneurial journey while studying at UNSW. After taking part in the UNSW Health 10x Accelerator program, the Docterio team have made significant progress in improving health outcomes for Bangladeshis.

Docterio is a healthtech startup aiming to digitise the healthcare infrastructure in Bangladesh by providing telemedicine services to the country’s private clinics and hospitals. As a solution to the traditional and inefficient process of appointment bookings and video consultations, Docterio enables accurate tracking of patient appointments, reduces misdiagnoses, and provides access to quality healthcare for even the most remote and under-resourced communities in Bangladesh.

In 2020, Docterio – founded by a team that includes international students at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) - joined the second cohort of Health10x to galvanise their business model, maintain momentum, and clarify key next steps in product development.

With team expertise in sales, software engineering, and management, and a shared vision to digitise their country’s healthcare system, Docterio applied learnings from program modules and expanded their network via mentors and fellow founders and achieved traction in key areas.

Now, with an affordable and scalable product, no direct competitors, and the advantage of a deep understanding of Bangladesh’s cultural and health environments, Docterio are positioned for ongoing success.
