UNSW Founders 2023 10x Accelerator Demo Day showcases record-breaking 26 new startups

On Thursday, October 26, 26 startups pitched to 100s of investors at a sold-out Demo Day event at The Art Gallery of NSW.

Demo Day was the culmination of a 10-week accelerator program designed to get founders investment-ready. The 30 startups accepted into our five streams (All Industries, Health, SynBio, Defence, and Climate) received more than $4.370 million in seed funding plus priceless mentoring, support, and networking. 10x has a proven track record of success, with startups such as Forage, HEO Robotics, Aerologix, Nuroflux, Psylo, and LLEAF among our alumni.

Health 10x

Launched in 2019 by UNSW Founders in partnership with The George Institute for Global Health, the Health 10x accelerator program equips startups with business expertise and resources needed to understand the health technology ecosystem, build their company, and drive impact through commercialisation. In 2023, Health 10x also partnered with Virtus Health to support women’s and reproductive health startups and Australian Medical Angels, the largest syndicate of clinicians across Australia, to provide additional commercialisation support and investment.

SynBio 10x

Back for cohort two, SynBio10x is the first accelerator in Australia to focus on supporting Synthetic Biology driven startups and is playing a critical role in the creation of Australia’s bioeconomy. Delivered in partnership with Main Sequence Ventures, SynBio 10x provides a unique launchpad for bio-based startups to find their market niche and build impactful companies from day one. SynBio10x harnesses the entrepreneurial experience of UNSW Founders and combines it with the R&D capabilities of Bioplatforms Australia, the Australian Genome Foundry & UNSW’s RNA Institute, and UNSW School of Biotechnology & Biomolecular Sciences (BABS) to supply Australian SynBio startups with access to education, networks, investment and shared infrastructure that accelerate product development and commercialisation.

Climate 10x

The Climate 10x Accelerator is a newly established program developing startups that will revolutionise the way we live, support our lifestyles and produce goods. The aims are significant and lasting emissions reduction, building a cleaner and more resilient energy system and improving the way we use our finite resources. Established as a part of the Trailblazer for Recycling and Clean Energy (TRaCE), a federally funded program awarded to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the University of Newcastle (UoN), Climate 10x is designed to boost R&D and drive commercialisation outcomes, focusing primarily on hardware and DeepTech led solutions. Climate 10x is proud to partner with Virescent Ventures, a specialist climate technology fund born out of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation which invests into startups accepted into the program.
